Horizon Helps: Alzheimers NC Walk

On Saturday, October 5, Alzheimers North Carolina hosted their annual walk at Koka Booth Amphitheatre in Cary, NC and Horizon Helps was there to serve up coffee, donuts, and bagels to the over 1,500 folks who came out to support this year's event.

There were over 30 vendor resources on site, along with clowns, a kids' corner with inflatable pirate ship and slide, a chili cook off, and lots of entertainment including the North Carolina State University Dancing Team, the Dancing Divas, and music from No Simple Highway and Jay and Andrea Osborne.

Our Horizon Helps team made sure the crowd had plenty of coffee (provided by Capitol Coffee in Cary), and gave out bagels and cream cheese (provided by Bruegger's Bagels) and over 100 dozen Krispy Kreme donuts.

Cary Mayor Harold Weinbrecht and this year's honorary event chair Debra Morgan from WRAL kicked off the Opening Ceremonies.

The money raised on Saturday will help Alzheimers NC continue to provide family support, community education, and public awareness to families and organizations across North Carolina.  The walk also helps to support research for the prevention, cure and treatment of Alzheimer's disease and related disorders. Over 170,000 people in North Carolina are affected by Alzheimer's disease and these numbers are expected to quadruple by the year 2025.
