MCA-I Central Carolina Chapter Event on October 24

On Thursday, October 24th over 60 MCA-I Central Carolina Chapter members and guests came out to hear an exceptional panel of documentarians talk about their experiences in making successful docs in North Carolina.

The panelists included Rebecca Cerese, an award-winning filmmaker and social justice advocate for 20 years; Dr. Steven Channing, Emmy Award winning filmmaker and Co-Founder of the Southern Documentary Fund; David and Theresa Dalton, owners of BlueWater Media LLC a group that’s produced many documentaries and television series for cable and broadcast networks; Scott Pearson, accomplished musician and producer of soundtracks for over 200 network movies and television shows (including Jon & Kate Plus 8 and 17 Kids and Counting); and Tom Vickers, an accomplished documentary editor whose works have aired on PBS, many national cable networks and his recent feature film was released to theaters across the nation.

Horizon’s President and Founder, Donna Mitchell, kicked off the event by introducing each panelist and then showing a clip of their work.  The panelists answered various questions about how they select their topics, find funding, and secure broadcast deals for the end product.  It was a great time way for budding filmmakers to hear about sources out there to help them with their own projects.

Folks enjoyed food and drink, provided by MCA-I and also had the chance to have a guided tour of Horizon’s new facilities.
