Horizon Helps | City of Raleigh Parks

Green thumbs were required for this fun outdoors Horizon Helps event organized by our own Mark Kowal. The team, including Mark, Brian, John, Taka, Kevin, Brenda and Bobby, spent the morning planting flowers grown in the City of Raleigh’s green house at historic Chavis Park.  The team planted 36 flats of plants; each flat had 18 plants in it for a total 648 plants in the ground. See all of the photos on the Horizon Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/HorizonProductions).

Volunteers working “in the field” allows the Park department to use funding for the purchase and care of the plants. And with the 648 plants and flowers now happily growing around Chavis Park, the Horizon Helps team helped make sure the coming summer will be beautiful for all visitors.

And just to prove they are not all work and no play, the team took a spin around the famous Carousel.  The recent 1.5 million dollar carousel renovation ensures that kids of all ages will be enjoying the ride for years to come.

Our Horizon Help event was the last volunteer group for the spring season, but help is welcomed year round.  Check out the many volunteer options to help ensure all of the City of Raleigh’s Parks are enjoyed by all.
